Heated CPAP tube for the ResMed AirSense 11 and AirCurve 11, with an integrated temperature sensor and wall-heating element maintaining 16–30°C to prevent rainout condensation and deliver consistently humidified therapy airflow to the mask.

    • Why the ClimateLineAir 11 Is the Rainout Prevention Boundary and the Humidification Delivery Completion Component of the AirSense 11 Therapy System Simultaneously

The ResMed ClimateLineAir 11 heated tube serves two structurally distinct functions that are both essential to effective humidified CPAP therapy with the AirSense 11, and that a single tube component must satisfy simultaneously. The first function is rainout prevention: the ClimateLineAir 11's integrated heating element is the mechanism that addresses the condensation phenomenon that standard unheated CPAP tubing produces when the AirSense 11's HumidAir 11 humidifier is used in a cool ambient room temperature. The HumidAir 11 humidifier produces correctly humidified air at the AirSense 11's output port — the air leaving the humidifier is at the temperature and humidity level the humidifier is set to deliver. As this warm, moisture-saturated air travels through an unheated 2-metre tube toward the mask, the tube wall conducts heat from the airstream to the cooler ambient environment. The air temperature drops along the tube length in proportion to the temperature differential between the airstream and the ambient air, and as the air temperature drops, its capacity to hold moisture in the vapour phase decreases. When the temperature drops sufficiently, the excess moisture in the cooled air reaches the dew point and condenses onto the inner tube wall surface — this is rainout. The condensed water accumulates in the tube's dependent loops, flows toward the lowest point of the tube's path, and eventually enters the mask interface as water droplets during the patient's sleep. Rainout is not merely inconvenient — it deposits water at the mask seal that disrupts the therapy seal, wets the patient's face, and creates the nocturnal arousal that reduces both sleep quality and therapy compliance. The ClimateLineAir 11's heating element warms the tube wall to a temperature that maintains the airstream above the dew point throughout the full 2-metre tube length, preventing the temperature differential between the airstream and the tube wall that causes condensation regardless of the ambient room temperature.

The second function the ClimateLineAir 11 must satisfy simultaneously is humidification delivery completion — ensuring that the humidity level the HumidAir 11 humidifier is set to deliver actually arrives at the patient's mask interface rather than being deposited as condensation within the tube. A HumidAir humidifier set to a humidity level of 4 or 5 out of 8 is attempting to deliver a specific water vapour concentration in the therapy airstream. When standard unheated tubing is used, the condensation that occurs along the tube length removes a portion of the humidity from the airstream as liquid water on the tube wall — the humidity level arriving at the mask is lower than the humidity level the humidifier is producing, because some of the water vapour has already been deposited in the tube before the air reaches the mask. The patient who is experiencing dry mouth, nasal dryness, or throat irritation despite having their humidifier set at a high level may be experiencing humidity delivery deficit caused by condensation loss in the tube rather than insufficient humidifier output. The ClimateLineAir 11 eliminates this humidity delivery loss mechanism — by preventing condensation throughout the tube length, the entire water vapour load that the humidifier produces is delivered to the mask interface, and the humidifier setting the patient selects accurately represents the humidity level they receive.

The integrated temperature sensor of the ClimateLineAir 11 enables the AirSense 11's Climate Control automatic management function, which adjusts the tube heating level and humidifier output together in response to the sensor's real-time temperature readings. When the AirSense 11 is operating in Climate Control Auto mode, the device uses the tube temperature sensor's measurements to calculate the minimum tube heating level required to prevent rainout at the current ambient conditions, and adjusts the humidifier output to compensate for any ambient humidity changes that affect the therapy air's moisture content. This closed-loop Climate Control function means the patient does not need to manually adjust the humidifier and tube temperature settings when ambient conditions change — seasonally, with room heating or air conditioning changes, or between different accommodation environments during travel — because the system continuously adapts to maintain the set comfort target.

The ClimateLineAir 11 is exclusively compatible with the AirSense 11 and AirCurve 11 device series and is not interchangeable with the earlier ClimateLineAir 10 designed for the AirSense 10 series. The AirSense 11 uses a redesigned Climate Control interface and tube connector that differs from the AirSense 10 implementation, and the ClimateLineAir 11's connector and electrical interface are matched to the AirSense 11's tube port geometry. Attempting to use a ClimateLineAir 10 with an AirSense 11 will not produce the correct electrical connection for the heating element and sensor, preventing the Climate Control automatic management function from operating and potentially limiting the tube's heating function entirely.

      KEY FEATURES

      • Integrated tube wall heating element — warms the tube wall to a temperature above the airstream's dew point throughout the 2-metre tube length, preventing the temperature differential between airstream and tube wall that causes rainout condensation regardless of ambient room temperature
      • Built-in temperature sensor — real-time tube temperature data enabling the AirSense 11's Climate Control Auto function to adjust tube heating and humidifier output together in response to ambient condition changes without manual patient intervention
      • Climate Control Auto compatibility — tube sensor and heating element integrate with the AirSense 11's Climate Control mode for closed-loop automatic temperature and humidity management, maintaining the patient's comfort target across varying ambient conditions
      • Temperature range 16–30°C (60–86°F) — tube heating operating range covering the typical ambient room temperature range in which condensation rainout occurs in standard unheated CPAP tubing configurations
      • Slim flexible design with 22 mm mask connector — tube flexibility accommodates routing across pillows and bed surfaces, with a standard 22 mm mask-end connection compatible with the full range of ResMed CPAP masks

      BENEFITS

      • Rainout elimination at any humidifier setting — tube heating prevents condensation regardless of humidifier output level, allowing the patient to use the humidity setting they require for airway comfort without reducing it below their comfort threshold to manage rainout
      • Full humidity delivery to the mask interface — heating prevents the condensation moisture loss that deposits a portion of the humidifier's output as liquid in the tube, ensuring the humidifier setting the patient selects accurately represents the humidity level arriving at the mask
      • Climate Control Auto removes ambient condition management burden — temperature sensor and heating element integration with the AirSense 11's automatic control function eliminates the need for seasonal or nightly humidifier and tube temperature adjustments in response to room temperature changes
      • Consistent comfort across seasonal and environmental temperature variation — tube heating adapts to winter room temperatures, air conditioning, and varying accommodation environments without the rainout or humidity delivery changes that unheated tubing produces under the same conditions
      • AirSense 11-specific design maintains Climate Control function integrity — connector and electrical interface matched to the AirSense 11's tube port ensures the temperature sensor and heating element operate correctly within the AirSense 11's Climate Control management system

      TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

AirSense 11 humidification setup with rainout sensitivity — ClimateLineAir 11 as the standard tube for AirSense 11 users who use the integrated HumidAir 11 humidifier and experience or wish to prevent rainout condensation, particularly in cool or air-conditioned room environments

Seasonal transition — winter bedroom use — tube heating particularly important during winter when ambient room temperature drops increase the temperature differential between the humidified airstream and the unheated tube wall, making condensation rainout more severe with standard tubing

High-humidity setting patients — ClimateLineAir 11 ensuring full delivery of higher humidifier output settings to the mask interface, for patients whose airway comfort requires humidity levels that standard tubing cannot deliver without significant condensation loss in cool ambient conditions

Climate Control Auto for simplified nightly management — AirSense 11 users who want automatic tube temperature and humidifier coordination without manual setting adjustments, with the sensor-enabled Climate Control Auto function maintaining the therapy comfort target across ambient condition changes

ClimateLineAir 11 replacement for worn or damaged tube — direct replacement maintaining the AirSense 11 system's heated humidification function and Climate Control Auto compatibility when the installed tube has reached the end of its service life or shows physical damage
