The dual-sided aluminum core with foam padding delivers rigid immobilization for finger fractures, sprains, and jams while the moldable design and secure closure enables customized fit and proper alignment throughout healing for Size Large adult use.

    • Why Dual-Sided Rigid Support

Bilateral aluminum stays provide superior stability compared to single-sided splints by preventing movement in all planes while maintaining proper anatomical positioning. The foam-lined construction distributes pressure evenly across the finger, reducing discomfort during extended wear and protecting sensitive injury sites from additional trauma.

      Key Features

      • Dual-sided aluminum support bars for rigid stabilization
      • Foam padding throughout for pressure relief and comfort
      • Moldable aluminum allows customization to individual finger anatomy
      • Lightweight construction for reduced fatigue during healing
      • Secure Velcro or medical tape closure system
      • Latex-free materials for sensitive skin compatibility
      • Universal design fits left or right hand
      • Size Large for adult-sized fingers
      • Breathable foam prevents moisture buildup
      • Low-profile design minimizes interference with daily activities

      Benefits

      • Prevents reinjury by maintaining complete finger immobilization
      • Reduces pain and swelling through proper alignment
      • Comfortable enough for 24-hour wear during acute healing phase
      • Easy self-application without requiring medical assistance
      • Adjustable fit accommodates swelling fluctuations
      • Durable construction withstands repeated use and cleaning
      • Cost-effective alternative to custom-fabricated splints
      • Protects healing structures during sleep
      • Enables early return to modified activities

      Clinical Applications

✓ Finger fractures (phalanx fractures - proximal, middle, or distal) ✓ Finger sprains (PIP or DIP joint injuries) ✓ Jammed fingers and traumatic joint injuries ✓ Boutonniere deformity stabilization ✓ Mallet finger immobilization ✓ Ligament tears requiring rigid support ✓ Post-reduction fracture stabilization ✓ Tendon injury protection during healing ✓ Post-surgical finger immobilization ✓ Gamekeeper's thumb (when sized appropriately)

      Usage & Application

Initial Application: Select the injured finger and ensure it is clean and dry. If significant swelling is present, consider icing for 10-15 minutes before splint application to reduce inflammation and improve fit. Position the injured finger inside the splint with the aluminum stays running along the sides (not top and bottom) of the finger for proper bilateral support.

Molding for Custom Fit: Gently bend the aluminum stays to match the natural contour of your finger. The splint should maintain the finger in a slightly flexed position (approximately 10-15 degrees at PIP joint) rather than completely straight, as this is the most comfortable and functional position for healing. Avoid excessive bending that could weaken the aluminum structure.

Securing the Splint: Wrap the Velcro straps or apply medical tape around the splint and finger, starting from the base and working toward the tip. The closure should be snug enough to prevent movement but not so tight that it cuts off circulation. Check for proper circulation by observing fingertip color (should remain pink) and temperature (should feel warm).

Wearing Schedule: For acute injuries, wear the splint continuously (24 hours daily) for the first 1-3 weeks or as directed by your healthcare provider. Remove only for gentle wound care or hygiene if cleared by your physician. For protective use during activities, wear during sports, manual labor, or other high-risk situations.

Monitoring and Adjustment: Check fingertip circulation every 2-3 hours during initial wear. Signs of too-tight application include numbness, tingling, blue or white fingertip color, increased pain, or coldness. If any of these occur, immediately loosen the closure. As swelling decreases, retighten the straps to maintain proper immobilization.

Hygiene and Maintenance: Clean the splint daily with mild soap and water, allowing it to air dry completely before reapplication. If the splint becomes wet from sweat or washing, replace it temporarily with a dry splint to prevent skin maceration. Inspect foam padding regularly for compression or degradation and replace the splint if structural integrity is compromised.

Duration of Use: Typical immobilization periods range from 3-6 weeks depending on injury severity. Follow your healthcare provider's specific timeline. Gradual weaning from the splint may be recommended, starting with removal during rest periods and continuing protection during activities.

When to Seek Medical Attention: Contact your healthcare provider if you experience increasing pain despite immobilization, persistent numbness or tingling, fingertip color changes that don't resolve with loosening, signs of infection (redness, warmth, drainage, fever), or if the injury doesn't improve within expected timeframes.
