The THERABAND Over-Door Shoulder Pulley is a rehabilitation device that helps restore shoulder range of motion and flexibility following rotator cuff surgery, shoulder injury, or frozen shoulder through controlled overhead pulley exercises.

    • Why Choose the THERABAND Over-Door Shoulder Pulley

Shoulder rehabilitation depends on consistent, progressive movement through the affected range — but the early stages of recovery from rotator cuff repair, shoulder surgery, or frozen shoulder often prevent patients from actively lifting or pushing through pain and muscle guarding. A pulley system addresses this by using the unaffected arm to assist and guide the injured arm through the overhead arc, allowing range-of-motion work to begin earlier in recovery than active exercise would permit. The THERABAND over-door design mounts to any standard door in seconds using the included anchor, eliminating the need for a wall-mounted bracket or clinic-only equipment. The colour-coded tracking system gives patients and physiotherapists a visual reference for monitoring progress over the course of a rehabilitation program, which supports adherence and allows adjustments to be made based on objective progression rather than perceived effort alone. Compact and lightweight at approximately 1 lb (0.45 kg), the pulley travels easily, making it practical for patients maintaining a home exercise program between clinical appointments.

      Key Features

      • Over-door pulley system designed for shoulder range-of-motion rehabilitation
      • Comfortable handles and durable rope for smooth, controlled movement
      • Colour-coded tracking system for monitoring rehabilitation progress
      • Door anchor attachment for quick installation on any standard door
      • Compact and lightweight at approximately 1 lb (0.45 kg)
      • Suitable for clinic and home exercise programs
      • Components include pulley wheel, rope, handles, and door anchor

      Benefits

      • Allows passive-assisted overhead shoulder movement during early recovery
      • Supports rehabilitation from rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, and shoulder surgery
      • Colour-coded system helps physiotherapists and patients track range-of-motion progress
      • Door-mount design eliminates need for wall fixtures or clinic-only equipment
      • Portable design supports consistent home exercise program compliance
      • Gentle, controlled movement reduces pain-driven muscle guarding during therapy

      Clinical Applications

✔ Post-operative range-of-motion rehabilitation following rotator cuff repair
✔ Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) mobility restoration programs
✔ Shoulder impingement syndrome rehabilitation and stretching
✔ Home exercise programs prescribed by physiotherapists and occupational therapists
✔ Post-fracture shoulder rehabilitation requiring assisted overhead movement
✔ General shoulder stiffness and mobility loss from disuse or prolonged immobilisation

      Usage and Care

Loop the door anchor over the top of a door and close the door firmly to secure it in place — ensure the door opens away from you during use to prevent accidental opening. Thread the rope through the pulley wheel and hold one handle in each hand while seated or standing facing the door. Using the non-affected arm to pull down on one handle, allow the affected arm to be lifted passively through the overhead range. Move slowly and within the range prescribed by the physiotherapist — do not force movement beyond the comfortable range of motion. Perform the number of repetitions and sets directed in the home exercise program. After use, wipe handles and rope with a damp cloth and store away from direct sunlight. Inspect the rope and pulley before each session and discontinue use if any fraying, cracking, or component damage is present. Consult a physiotherapist before beginning use.
