The New Image Convex CeraPlus Skin Barrier combines ceramide-infused adhesion with a convex profile to protect peristomal skin and improve leakage resistance around recessed or flush stomas — cut-to-fit up to 1-1/2 inches for a custom seal.

    • Why Choose the New Image Convex CeraPlus Skin Barrier

Peristomal skin is among the most vulnerable skin on the body — exposed to moisture, output, and repeated adhesive application in a way that breaks down the natural skin barrier over time. CeraPlus technology addresses this directly by infusing the barrier adhesive with ceramides, lipid molecules that are a natural component of healthy skin structure. Rather than simply adhering to the skin, the CeraPlus formulation actively supports the skin's own moisture barrier, helping reduce the transepidermal water loss that leads to peristomal skin breakdown during extended wear. The convex profile adds a second layer of clinical value — for patients with recessed, flush, or retracted stomas, a flat barrier often fails to establish a seal at the base of the stoma, leaving gaps where output can track under the adhesive and cause both leakage and skin damage. The convex shape applies gentle inward pressure around the stoma, encouraging the stoma to project more reliably into the pouch and closing the gap that causes under-barrier leakage. The cut-to-fit opening allows sizing up to 1-1/2 inches (38 mm) to accommodate a wide range of stoma sizes and shapes, and the adhesive tape border extends the wear surface to provide additional security during movement. Compatible with the full Hollister New Image two-piece pouch range via the 2-1/4-inch coupling system.

      Clinical Applications

✔ Ileostomy and colostomy patients with recessed, flush, or retracted stomas
✔ Peristomal skin at risk of breakdown from moisture exposure or repeated adhesive use
✔ Patients requiring a customizable cut-to-fit barrier for irregular stoma shapes
✔ Two-piece ostomy management using Hollister New Image pouching systems
✔ Post-operative ostomy care where stoma projection is inconsistent during healing
✔ Patients with latex sensitivities requiring latex-free ostomy barrier products

      Usage and Care

Measure the stoma using a stoma guide or measuring card and cut the barrier opening to match the stoma size, leaving approximately 1–2 mm clearance around the stoma base — do not cut the opening larger than 1-1/2 inches (38 mm). Clean and thoroughly dry the peristomal skin before application. Remove the backing from the barrier, centre the opening over the stoma, and press the adhesive surface firmly against the skin working outward from the stoma base to eliminate air pockets. Smooth the tape border down fully and hold with warm hand pressure for 30–60 seconds to activate adhesion. Attach the New Image pouch to the 2-1/4-inch coupling ring until it clicks securely. Change the barrier on the schedule recommended by the ostomy care nurse or clinician, or immediately if leakage, lifting, or skin irritation is present. Dispose of used barriers as directed.
