Extra-wide protective ring enhances ostomy seal and protects peristomal skin from leakage with 48 mm outer diameter coverage. Stretches from 18 mm inner diameter to fit stomas. 4.2 mm thickness absorbs moisture. Hydrocolloid material. Ring.

    • Why Choose Coloplast Brava Wide Adhesive Protective Ring

Ostomy barrier leakage most commonly originates at the aperture zone — the gap between the stoma edge and the barrier opening where output seeps under the adhesive before the barrier adhesive fully contains it. Protective rings address this by placing a moldable adhesive material directly at this junction, creating a secondary seal between the stoma edge and the barrier that survives movement, output pressure, and adhesive edge lifting longer than the barrier adhesive alone. The Wide format — 48mm outside diameter versus standard rings — provides additional sealing surface area beyond the immediate stoma aperture zone, making it the appropriate selection when peristomal skin irregularities such as folds, creases, scars, or radiation changes extend outward from the stoma and require additional fill and sealing beyond what a narrower ring addresses. The 4.2mm thickness provides enough bulk to fill moderate skin depressions and creases. Moldable construction allows the ring to be shaped, stretched, or compressed before application — it can be wrapped directly around the stoma base or used to fill a specific skin crease at the most vulnerable leakage point. 18mm inner diameter fits standard stomal diameters. 10 per box. Confirm appropriate ring selection and application technique with a stoma care nurse.

      Key Features

✔ Wide format — 48mm OD for extended sealing coverage beyond the stoma aperture zone

✔ 18mm inner diameter for standard stomal fit

✔ 4.2mm thickness for filling moderate skin depressions and creases

✔ Moldable adhesive material — stretch, shape, or compress before application

✔ Reduces leakage at the stoma-barrier junction

      ✔ 10 per box

      Benefits

✔ Wide OD provides sealing coverage over irregular or folded peristomal skin

✔ Moldable format adapts to individual stoma and peristomal skin geometry

✔ Creates secondary seal at aperture zone where primary barrier leakage begins

✔ Filling effect addresses creases, scars, and depressions that create leakage paths

✔ May extend barrier wear time by improving seal security

      Clinical & Typical Applications

✔ Peristomal skin with folds, creases, scars, or radiation changes requiring extra fill

✔ Stoma aperture seal reinforcement for users experiencing frequent leakage

✔ Difficult-to-seal stomas where standard rings provide insufficient OD coverage

✔ Adjunct to convex barriers for users requiring both convexity and additional sealing

✔ Improving barrier wear time for active users with higher physical stress on the seal

      Usage & Care

Warm the ring briefly between palms to soften before application. Mold, stretch, or compress as needed to match the stoma shape and fill skin irregularities. Apply around the stoma or press into the barrier opening before barrier application. Press firmly at the stoma-barrier junction after placement. Apply the ostomy barrier over the ring immediately after placement. Replace at each barrier change or per the care plan. Confirm correct ring sizing and application technique with a stoma care nurse — incorrect application may reduce rather than improve seal effectiveness.
