Moldable strip paste fills gaps and creases around stomas for improved barrier adhesion. Alcohol-free formula gentle on skin. Pre-cut strips for convenient, mess-free application.

    • Why Strip Paste for Peristomal Skin Irregularities

Even properly fitted ostomy barriers struggle with irregular peristomal skin—creases, folds, scars, or uneven contours create microscopic gaps where output can seep underneath, causing leaks and skin breakdown. Traditional tube pastes require messy dispensing, careful shaping, and often contain alcohol that stings damaged skin. Strip paste solves these challenges with pre-measured, pre-shaped strips that mold easily by hand to fill any irregularity. The flexible consistency conforms to skin folds and creates a level surface for barrier adhesion without the mess of traditional pastes. The alcohol-free formula eliminates stinging on compromised peristomal skin while maintaining tackiness for secure barrier bonding. By filling gaps and creating a smooth transition between uneven skin and the barrier, strip paste prevents undermining, extends wear time, and protects vulnerable peristomal tissue from corrosive output contact.

Active lifestyles: extra security during physical activity or sports
New ostomy users: learning proper barrier application techniques

      Usage & Application

For individuals with colostomies, ileostomies, or urostomies who need additional sealing around irregular peristomal skin or experience leakage with barriers alone.

      When to use strip paste:

      • Deep creases or folds in peristomal skin
      • Surgical scars creating uneven surfaces around stoma
      • Retracted or flush stomas needing additional seal support
      • History of leakage or undermining with barriers alone
      • Skin that has changed shape since ostomy surgery
      • Extra security needed during physical activity

      Application method:

      Basic application:

      1. Cleanse and dry skin thoroughly:
        • Remove old barrier and any previous paste residue
        • Cleanse peristomal skin with warm water
        • Pat skin completely dry—paste requires dry skin for proper adhesion
        • Ensure stoma itself is clean (paste should not contact stoma)
      2. Prepare the strip paste:
        • Remove one strip from packaging
        • Warm the strip briefly between clean, dry hands (10-15 seconds) to make it more pliable
        • The strip should become soft and moldable but not sticky on hands
      3. Shape and apply:
        • Gently stretch or roll the strip to desired shape and thickness
        • For creases: roll into a thin rope and press into fold
        • For scars: flatten slightly and lay over irregular area
        • For flush stomas: create a ring or partial ring around stoma base
        • Press paste firmly onto clean, dry skin
        • Smooth edges to create gradual transition from skin to paste
        • Leave approximately 1/8″ clearance around stoma—do not let paste contact stoma itself
      4. Apply barrier over paste:
        • Wait 30-60 seconds for paste to develop initial tack (if needed)
        • Position barrier over the prepared area
        • Press firmly, starting from the stoma and working outward
        • Hold pressure for 30-60 seconds to ensure good adhesion
        • The paste creates a level surface for the barrier to bond to

      Advanced techniques:

      For deep creases:

      • Roll strip into a rope shape
      • Press deep into the crease, filling from bottom up
      • Use finger to smooth paste level with surrounding skin

      For multiple small gaps:

      • Cut or tear strip into smaller pieces as needed
      • Apply individual pieces to each gap area
      • Smooth all edges to blend with skin surface

      For retracted stomas:

      • Create a partial or complete ring around stoma base
      • Build up the area to bring stoma level closer to skin surface
      • Ensure ring doesn't contact stoma itself

      Paste removal:

      • Remove barrier as usual
      • Paste typically comes away with the barrier
      • Any remaining paste residue can be removed with:
        • Warm water and gentle rubbing
        • Adhesive remover wipes
        • Baby oil (if approved by healthcare provider)
      • Do not scrub aggressively—paste should release relatively easily

      How much paste to use:

      • Use the minimum amount needed to fill irregularities
      • One strip typically sufficient for small creases or gaps
      • May need 2-3 strips for extensive irregularities or complete ring around stoma
      • Avoid excessive paste application—thick layers may not adhere well

      Paste vs. seals/rings:

      • Strip paste: Best for small, specific gaps or irregular shapes
      • Moldable seals: Better for larger, more uniform gaps around entire stoma
      • Can combine: Use paste for specific problem areas and seals for general protection
      • Consult ostomy nurse for guidance on which products best suit your anatomy

Storage: Keep strips in original packaging at room temperature. Reseal box after opening to maintain product consistency.

      Important application tips:

      • Always apply paste to dry skin—moisture prevents proper adhesion
      • Warm paste between hands before use for easier molding
      • Don't let paste contact the stoma—it should only be on skin
      • Use fresh paste for each barrier application—don't try to reuse old paste
      • If paste feels too stiff, warm longer between hands
      • If paste feels too soft or sticky, it may be old—check expiration date
