Traditional clamp closure drainable pouch delivers secure sealing and easy emptying with 12" capacity. Beige opaque design offers discretion. No filter—ideal for liquid output. Compatible with 2¼" flange New Image barriers. Box of 10 ea.

    • Why Clamp Closure for Drainable Pouches

Traditional clamp closure provides time-tested, reliable sealing for drainable ostomy pouches, offering users complete control over emptying frequency and technique. The clamp creates a secure, leak-proof seal that stays closed during activity while being easy to open and close during emptying. This design is particularly preferred by users with liquid output, as the absence of integrated outlet closures allows faster, more thorough emptying and easier cleaning. The 12-inch pouch length provides comfortable capacity for moderate-to-high output without being too long, while the beige opaque film offers discretion under clothing. No-filter design prevents clogging with liquid output and eliminates filter maintenance concerns.

Usage & Application - Patient Guidance

For 2-Piece Ostomy Pouch Under Healthcare Provider Direction: This drainable pouch attaches to Hollister New Image skin barriers as instructed by your healthcare provider or ostomy nurse. Proper training ensures safe, effective use.

      Understanding the 2-Piece System:

      • Skin barrier: Adheres to peristomal skin, worn 3–5 days
      • Pouch: Attaches to barrier, changed daily or as needed
      • Benefit: Change pouches without removing barrier, protecting skin

      Attaching the Pouch:

      • Ensure skin barrier flange is clean, dry, and free from output
      • Remove protective backing from pouch flange adhesive if present
      • Align pouch flange (2¼") with barrier flange carefully
      • Press firmly around entire flange until secure connection is achieved
      • Some systems click or snap; ensure you hear/feel secure attachment
      • Gently tug to verify connection before use
      • Ensure clamp is securely closed before wearing

      Using the Clamp Closure:

      • Clamp should be positioned at bottom of pouch outlet
      • To close: Fold outlet tail upward 2–3 times, slide clamp over folded tail
      • Squeeze clamp sides together until securely locked
      • Verify clamp is closed by gently tugging on pouch outlet
      • To open: Squeeze clamp sides and slide off folded tail
      • Unfold tail completely before emptying

      Emptying the Pouch:

      • Empty pouch when 1/3 to 1/2 full to prevent weight pulling on seal
      • For liquid output, empty more frequently (4–8 times daily)
      • Sit on toilet or position pouch over receptacle
      • Remove clamp by squeezing sides and sliding off
      • Unfold outlet tail completely
      • Allow contents to drain fully—wide opening facilitates thorough emptying
      • For thick output, gently massage pouch downward
      • Wipe inside and outside of outlet with toilet tissue
      • Fold tail upward 2–3 times and reapply clamp securely
      • Never let pouch become more than 2/3 full

      Cleaning the Outlet:

      • After emptying, wipe outlet thoroughly inside and outside
      • Use damp toilet tissue or ostomy pouch wipes if desired
      • Ensure outlet is completely clean before refolding
      • Clean outlet helps prevent odor and maintains hygiene
      • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials
      • Allow outlet to air briefly if time permits before closing

      Pouch Changing Schedule:

      • Change pouch daily or every 1–2 days for optimal hygiene
      • Change immediately if output leaks at flange connection
      • Change if pouch material shows wear or damage
      • Change if clamp no longer seals securely
      • Some users prefer to change pouch each time barrier is changed

      Clamp Care and Replacement:

      • Inspect clamp regularly for cracks, breaks, or weakness
      • Replace clamp if it no longer closes securely
      • Keep spare clamps available for emergencies
      • Some clamps are reusable after cleaning; check product guidelines
      • Clean reusable clamps with mild soap and water, dry thoroughly

      Managing Liquid Output:

      • No-filter design prevents clogging with liquid drainage
      • Empty more frequently than with solid output (4–8 times daily)
      • Consider dietary modifications if output is consistently very liquid
      • Stay hydrated if experiencing frequent liquid output
      • Contact healthcare provider if output suddenly becomes very liquid

      Troubleshooting Common Issues:

      • Clamp won't stay closed: Replace with new clamp, check for damage
      • Pouch leaking at outlet: Ensure clamp properly positioned, check outlet for tears
      • Difficulty emptying: Unfold tail completely, ensure wide opening clear
      • Pouch detaching from barrier: Verify flange sizes match, check connection technique
      • Outlet difficult to clean: Use pouch deodorant or rinse thoroughly

When to Contact Healthcare Provider or Ostomy Nurse:

      • Persistent leakage at pouch outlet or flange connection
      • Difficulty manipulating clamp mechanism
      • Pouch material tearing or wearing prematurely
      • Output consistency changes significantly
      • Need for different pouch length or style
      • Questions about proper clamp usage
      • Skin irritation around barrier area
      • Pouch detaching frequently from barrier
