The Hollister New Image Convex Flextend Barrier (14803) offers extended wear protection for flush and retracted stomas. A convex cut-to-fit design, 2-1/4" flange, Flextend hydrocolloid, and tape border ensure a reliable leak-resistant seal.

    • Why Choose the Hollister New Image Convex Flextend Skin Barrier (14803)?

Flush, retracted, or recessed stomas present a unique sealing challenge — without adequate convexity to direct the stoma outward and create a proper seal, output can track under the barrier and cause leakage, skin breakdown, and frequent changes. The Hollister New Image Convex Flextend Skin Barrier addresses this directly. The convex design applies gentle, consistent pressure around the stoma base, encouraging better protrusion and creating a more reliable seal between the stoma and the skin barrier. Flextend™ technology uses a hydrocolloid formulation engineered to resist erosion from both solid and liquid output, significantly extending wear time compared to standard barriers. The floating flange reduces abdominal pressure during pouch connection, and the tape border reinforces adhesion around the edges of the barrier for added security. Cut-to-fit to a maximum of 1-1/2" (38 mm), it accommodates a range of stoma sizes. Compatible with all New Image two-piece pouches with a 2-1/4" (57 mm) flange.

      Key Features

      • Convex design applies pressure at the stoma base to improve seal on flush or retracted stomas
      • Flextend™ extended wear hydrocolloid resists erosion from stoma output for longer wear time
      • Cut-to-fit opening up to 1-1/2" (38 mm) for customised stoma fit
      • 2-1/4" (57 mm) flange with red coupling system — compatible with New Image two-piece pouches
      • Integrated floating flange reduces abdominal pressure during pouch attachment and detachment
      • Tape border provides additional adhesion security around the barrier perimeter
      • Hydrocolloid barrier material maintains skin health under the barrier
      • Packaged 5 barriers per box

      Benefits

      • Convexity improves seal on challenging stoma profiles, reducing leakage risk
      • Flextend hydrocolloid extends wear time and reduces the frequency of barrier changes
      • Tape border improves security in active users or those with irregular abdominal contours
      • Floating flange allows easier, more comfortable pouch connection and disconnection
      • Cut-to-fit design provides a precise stoma opening for optimal fit and protection
      • Compatible with the full New Image two-piece pouch range for system flexibility

      Clinical & Typical Applications

Colostomy, ileostomy, or urostomy users with flush, retracted, or recessed stomas requiring convexity for a reliable seal

Ostomy users experiencing recurrent leakage or barrier erosion who need an extended wear solution

Patients with soft or irregular peristomal skin contours who benefit from the added security of a tape border

Active users requiring a secure, long-lasting barrier with resistance to output erosion throughout the day

Patients newly fitted with a two-piece ostomy system who require a convex barrier for proper stoma management

Home care and long-term care clients where extended wear barriers reduce the frequency of caregiver-assisted changes

      Usage & Care

Cutting: Using the provided guide or a stoma measuring template, cut the barrier opening to match the stoma size. Do not cut smaller than the stoma — a snug but non-constricting fit is ideal.

Application: Remove the backing, warm the barrier briefly in your hands to soften the hydrocolloid, and apply centred over the stoma with firm, even pressure from the centre outward. Smooth the tape border to the skin.

Pouch Connection: Connect the New Image pouch by aligning the flange and pressing firmly until the coupling ring clicks or locks securely.

Wear Time: Flextend barriers are designed for extended wear. Change the barrier when leakage occurs, when the barrier begins to lift, or at the interval recommended by your stoma care nurse — typically every 3–5 days.

Removal: Use an adhesive remover spray (e.g., Coloplast or Convatec remover) to release the barrier gently. Never forcibly peel without preparation.

Note: For use under the guidance of a stoma care nurse or healthcare provider. Proper barrier fitting is essential for skin health and wear performance.
