This convex New Image™ barrier combines gentle convex support with Flextend® extended-wear hydrocolloid that resists erosion for longer, more reliable wear—ideal for retracted or flush stomas on soft, uneven abdomens.

    • Why Choose Hollister New Image Flextend Convex Barrier Cut-to-Fit up to 1"

The Flextend Convex is the extended-wear convex barrier configuration in the New Image range — combining the Flextend adhesive's output erosion resistance with the inward pressure geometry of a convex barrier. Where the flat Flextend barrier is appropriate for well-protruding stomas, the convex version adds the physical inward pressure at the stoma base that is required when the stoma does not protrude sufficiently for a flat barrier to achieve reliable seal. The convexity addresses flush and retracted stoma profiles by applying pressure that encourages stoma protrusion and creates a better-defined seal zone at the stoma-to-barrier aperture contact. The Flextend extended-wear adhesive then maintains this seal longer than standard FlexWear — the dual specification of convexity and extended wear is clinically relevant for ileostomy users with flush stomas, where liquid output attacks the seal at the aperture zone continuously and from two directions: from the barrier face through output erosion (addressed by Flextend) and from the aperture perimeter through inadequate stoma protrusion (addressed by convexity). Cut-to-fit up to 1 inch accommodates the smaller stoma diameters typical of this barrier profile. 1-3/4 inch flange. 5 per box. Consult a stoma care nurse before using convex products.

      Key Features

✔ Convex barrier for flush or retracted stomas requiring inward seal pressure

✔ Flextend extended-wear adhesive for improved output erosion resistance at the aperture zone

✔ Cut-to-fit up to 1 inch for smaller stoma diameters

✔ 1-3/4 inch flange for compatible Hollister New Image 2-piece pouches

✔ 2-piece system allows pouch changes while barrier remains in place

      ✔ 5 per box

      Benefits

✔ Convexity addresses flush stoma seal failure that flat barriers cannot correct

✔ Flextend adhesive extends wear time vs. standard FlexWear for ileostomy and active use

✔ Combined convex + Flextend addresses both output erosion and stoma protrusion failure modes

✔ Cut-to-fit provides precise aperture sizing for smaller stoma diameters up to 1 inch

✔ 2-piece format allows independent pouch and barrier change scheduling

      Clinical & Typical Applications

✔ Flush or retracted ileostomy or colostomy stomas requiring convex seal improvement

✔ Extended-wear convex barrier for ileostomy with liquid output and flush stoma profile

✔ New Image 2-piece users at 1-3/4 inch flange requiring convex + extended-wear barrier

✔ Transition from flat Flextend when seal failure indicates need for convexity

✔ Smaller stoma diameters up to 1 inch requiring cut-to-fit convex barrier

      Usage & Care

Confirm convexity is clinically appropriate with a stoma care nurse before use. Measure stoma before cutting — aperture should be no more than 3mm larger than the stoma within the up-to-1-inch range. Warm the barrier between palms to activate adhesion. Apply to clean, dry peristomal skin and press firmly from stoma outward — ensure the convex ring makes correct contact around the stoma base. Attach compatible 1-3/4 inch New Image pouch. Change every 3–5 days or when lifting, leaking, or skin changes are observed. Consult a stoma care nurse for convex depth, wear-time, and skin assessment guidance.
