The Kendall SCD Comfort Thigh Length Compression Sleeves are single-patient-use sequential compression sleeves in Large, designed to promote venous circulation and reduce DVT risk when connected to a compatible SCD compression therapy pump.

    • Why Choose the Kendall SCD Comfort Thigh Length Compression Sleeves

During periods of immobility — post-operative recovery, bed rest, or reduced ambulation — the calf muscle pump that normally drives venous blood return from the legs toward the heart becomes largely inactive. Without this mechanical pumping action, blood pools in the deep veins of the lower limbs, creating the stasis conditions that significantly increase deep vein thrombosis risk. Sequential compression devices replicate the pumping effect mechanically: the sleeves inflate in a distal-to-proximal sequence, compressing the leg in waves that push venous blood upward through the venous system and toward central circulation. Thigh-length sleeves extend this compression coverage from the foot to the upper thigh, addressing the full length of the lower-limb venous system rather than only the calf — which is clinically important for patients at elevated DVT risk or recovering from orthopaedic procedures involving the hip, femur, or thigh. The soft breathable fabric and hook-and-loop closures support patient comfort and easy fitting across the nursing care day, and the 3-pair box format provides a practical supply for managing multiple patient days or changes within a single admission. Compatible with Kendall SCD compression therapy systems for straightforward integration into existing clinical equipment.

      Key Features

      • Soft breathable fabric for patient comfort during extended therapy sessions
      • Hook-and-loop closures for easy application, adjustment, and secure fit
      • Compatible with Kendall SCD compression therapy pump systems
      • Size: Large
      • 3 pairs per box
      • Single patient use

      Benefits

      • Helps reduce deep vein thrombosis (DVT) risk in immobile or post-surgical patients
      • Thigh-length coverage addresses the full lower-limb venous drainage system
      • Sequential compression promotes active venous blood return toward central circulation
      • Breathable fabric improves comfort and patient tolerance during prolonged therapy
      • Hook-and-loop closures simplify application for nursing staff during frequent patient care
      • Multi-pair box format supports consistent supply across patient care episodes

      Clinical Applications

✔ DVT prophylaxis for post-operative patients in surgical and orthopaedic recovery
✔ Sequential compression therapy for patients with reduced or absent ambulation
✔ Hip and knee arthroplasty recovery requiring full thigh-length venous compression
✔ Intensive care and high-dependency unit patients requiring continuous DVT prevention
✔ Home care sequential compression therapy for patients with chronic venous insufficiency
✔ Stroke and neurological rehabilitation patients with prolonged reduced mobility

      Usage and Care

Apply the sleeves to the patient's bare legs with the patient in a supine or semi-recumbent position. Open each sleeve flat, slide the patient's leg into the sleeve, and fasten the hook-and-loop closures starting at the ankle and working upward to the thigh — ensuring a snug but not constrictive fit with consistent contact along the full length of the leg. Connect the sleeve tubing to the compatible Kendall SCD compression pump according to the pump manufacturer's connection instructions. Confirm the pump is cycling correctly before leaving the patient. Inspect the skin condition at each sleeve change and whenever the sleeve is removed for personal care. Sleeves should be changed according to hospital or home care protocol, or if soiling, damage, or skin irritation is observed. These sleeves are intended for single patient use only and must not be used on more than one patient.
