    • Why Choose Hollister New Image Flat Flextend Skin Barrier 1-1/4" Pre-Sized

The Flextend barrier material is the clinical justification for this product over the standard New Image barrier. Flextend's extended-wear formulation maintains adhesive integrity and skin protection over longer wear periods than standard barrier adhesive — relevant for users who experience standard barrier adhesion failure before the 3–4 day typical change interval, or who prefer to extend change intervals for lifestyle, comfort, or skin health reasons. Longer wear reduces the number of peel-and-apply adhesive trauma events at the peristomal skin, which is one of the primary causes of peristomal skin breakdown over time. The flat profile is appropriate for stomas with good protrusion above the skin surface on flat or minimally contoured abdominal skin — users who need convexity to improve seal geometry will not find the benefit in a flat barrier. The pre-sized 1-1/4 inch opening eliminates cutting for users whose stoma has stabilised at this measured diameter — providing consistent aperture sizing across each barrier change without the variability of hand-cutting. 1-3/4 inch flange couples with compatible New Image 2-piece pouches. Confirm compatibility and appropriate barrier selection with a stoma care nurse.

✔ Users transitioning from cut-to-fit New Image barriers with confirmed stoma size

      Usage & Care

Confirm stoma size with accurate measurement before ordering pre-sized barriers — the opening should be no more than 3 mm larger than the stoma. Clean and dry peristomal skin thoroughly before application. Warm the barrier between palms briefly to activate adhesion. Apply centred over the stoma and press firmly from the stoma outward for 30–60 seconds. Attach the compatible 1-3/4 inch New Image pouch to the flange. Change the barrier every 3–5 days or when lifting, leaking, or peristomal skin changes are observed. Consult a stoma care nurse for barrier selection and wear-time guidance.
