The PVI® Multifold Ramp is a portable aluminum access ramp designed for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Its folding suitcase-style design, two-piece carrying configuration, full platform and high-traction surface make it practical for temporary access at steps, porches, landings, curbs and other raised surfaces.

Verified Product: PVI's current Multifold line includes 30-inch-wide models from 5 to 8 feet and 36-inch-wide bariatric models from 5 to 8 feet. Current specifications list 800 lb maximum capacity, with 400 lb for a single axle and 800 lb for two axles.

Ramp Length & Slope

Measure the vertical rise before selecting a ramp. Longer ramps generally provide a gentler slope. PVI recommends using the least possible slope and states that an occupied portable ramp should not exceed a 2:12 slope when loading a person into a vehicle.

For general accessibility planning, 1:12 is a common benchmark, but the appropriate slope must follow applicable requirements and the mobility device manufacturer's limits.

Do not choose a ramp based on capacity alone. The selected length must also be appropriate for the rise, available space, mobility device and intended use.

Usage and Safety Information

Inspect the ramp before every use. Confirm that it is fully unfolded, the sections are correctly connected, locking/security pins are secured, and the top and bottom surfaces are stable.

Use only on a firm, level and suitable surface. The complete loaded weight of the user and mobility device must remain within the applicable capacity.

When using a portable ramp with an occupied wheelchair or scooter, have a qualified assistant present. Follow PVI instructions and the mobility device manufacturer's slope requirements.

Do not use the ramp if the aluminum frame, hinges, locking pins, side edges or traction surface are damaged.

Important: The PVI Multifold is available in multiple lengths and widths. Confirm the exact model, rise, slope, width and capacity before ordering. Do not confuse the standard Multifold with the separate Multifold Reach, which uses an extended hook.
