Washable foam pollen filter for Philips Respironics DreamStation CPAP and BiPAP machines, capturing coarse dust, pollen, and pet dander at the air intake as the reusable first stage of the dual-stage system, washable every one to two weeks.

The DreamStation reusable pollen filter serves two structurally distinct functions that are both essential to the DreamStation's complete air intake filtration system, and that a single reusable filter component must satisfy simultaneously. The first function is coarse particle capture: the pollen filter is the outer first stage of the DreamStation's dual-stage intake system, positioned to intercept the coarse particle fraction — large dust fragments, pollen grains, textile fibres, and pet dander particles — that constitutes the majority of the airborne particle load by mass in the typical home environment. The pollen filter's washable foam structure provides the open-cell geometry required to capture these larger particles by mechanical interception without the airflow resistance that a fine-pore filter medium would impose at the same capture area. A coarse-stage filter positioned as the first intake contact stage prevents the large particle fraction from reaching the inner disposable ultra-fine filter, protecting the fine filter medium from rapid saturation by the particles it is not required to capture. This division of the particle size range between the two filtration stages is the engineering logic of the dual-stage system: the reusable foam pollen filter captures the coarse fraction that constitutes the majority of the particle load by mass, and the disposable ultra-fine filter concentrates on the fine particle fraction that the pollen filter's open-foam structure allows to pass through. Without the pollen filter performing its coarse capture function, the disposable ultra-fine filter would saturate significantly faster than its rated 30-day service interval, because it would be required to capture both the fine fraction it is designed for and the coarse fraction the pollen filter is designed to remove.
The second function the pollen filter must satisfy simultaneously is disposable filter lifespan management — extending the service life of the disposable ultra-fine filter by reducing the particle load that reaches the fine filter medium. The ultra-fine disposable filter is rated for approximately 30 days of nightly CPAP use at the standard intake particle load of a household environment with the pollen filter installed and performing its coarse capture function. If the pollen filter is absent, worn beyond its service condition, or saturated with coarse particles that have reduced its interception efficiency, the particle load reaching the disposable filter increases — the coarse particles that the pollen filter normally removes are now presented directly to the fine filter medium, where they occupy the surface area and pore volume that the fine filter's rated service life assumes will be loaded only with the fine particle fraction. The practical consequence is that the disposable filter may require replacement in less than the standard 30-day interval, increasing the replacement cost and maintenance frequency of the disposable component. Maintaining the pollen filter in serviceable condition through regular washing at the recommended 1–2 week interval directly preserves the disposable filter's rated service life and the cost and maintenance compliance implications that a shorter disposable filter interval creates.
The washability of the pollen filter — its capacity to be rinsed clean and returned to service — is the property that defines the reusable component's role in the dual-stage system and its cost advantage relative to a two-disposable-filter approach. Foam filtration media that captures coarse particles primarily by mechanical surface interception and depth filtration at the larger pore scale can be washed because the coarse particles are not deeply embedded within the foam matrix — they are captured at or near the foam surface, and the wash process dislodges them from the surface without damaging the foam's cell structure. The washing cycle restores the pollen filter's airflow conductance and coarse particle interception efficiency to near its original specification, allowing the same filter to perform its capture function across approximately 6 months of regular use — roughly 26 wash cycles at the 1–2 week wash frequency — before the foam's structural degradation from repeated compression, washing, and drying reduces its performance to the replacement threshold.
The slide-in installation of the DreamStation pollen filter addresses the maintenance accessibility requirement of a component that must be removed, washed, dried, and reinstalled at 1–2 week intervals throughout the filter's 6-month service life. The slide-in filter housing allows the pollen filter to be removed and reinstalled in a single motion without tools or technical knowledge, supporting patient and caregiver compliance with the washing schedule in home CPAP maintenance. The filter housing positions the pollen filter and its attached disposable ultra-fine filter in the correct orientation within the DreamStation's intake compartment, maintaining the two-stage capture geometry with each reinstallation.
✓ Routine DreamStation filter maintenance — pollen filter washing at the 1–2 week interval and replacement at the 6-month threshold as part of the DreamStation's scheduled maintenance programme, maintaining dual-stage intake filtration performance across the full maintenance cycle
✓ Replacement for worn or damaged pollen filter — direct replacement when the installed pollen filter has reached its 6-month service threshold or shows foam structure degradation, torn sections, or discolouration that indicates replacement is required before the standard interval
✓ Dual-stage filtration setup for allergen-sensitive patients — pollen filter as the coarse-capture stage, paired with the disposable ultra-fine filter for complete two-stage particle size coverage, particularly important for patients sensitive to pollen, dust mite particles, and pet dander
✓ High-particulate home environments — pollen filter in household environments with elevated coarse particle loads — pet-owning homes, homes with carpeting, dusty environments — where the coarse particle mass fraction is higher than the standard household baseline and the first-stage capture function is particularly important for disposable filter lifespan
✓ Spare pollen filter during washing cycle — second pollen filter maintained as a dry spare to allow immediate reinstallation after the washed filter is removed, eliminating the wait for the washed filter to air-dry before the CPAP machine can be reassembled for the evening therapy session

Very welcoming and informative. We went in to rent a Walker for my mom to see if she would use it. They had no rentals left so he gave us a brand new one on rental. Highly recommend this company for all your ADL needs.

Excellent experience - website faithfully represented what was in stock (which hasn't always been my experience with other vendors sadly), and local shipping was really fast - ordered on the weekend, received it on Monday in my case. Thank you for being
