How the Slow-Down Brakes Work

The brakes press against the Stella wheels to create adjustable resistance. Amylior's installation procedure uses a 4 mm Allen key and 14 mm combination wrench. The pressure is adjusted by loosening the bolts, turning the knob to increase or decrease resistance, and then tightening the bolts.

The resistance should be adjusted so both wheels provide a similar level of drag and the rollator remains controllable.

Usage and Safety Information

Install the slow-down brakes according to Amylior's Stella accessory instructions. Confirm that the left and right brakes are installed on their corresponding wheels and that all mounting hardware is secure.

Adjust the resistance gradually and test the rollator on a flat surface. Slow-down brakes are not a substitute for the standard hand or parking brakes. Use the standard brakes to deliberately slow, stop or lock the rollator.

Do not set the resistance so high that normal walking or steering becomes difficult. Check that both wheels rotate freely when the rollator is lifted and that the resistance is reasonably balanced between sides.

Inspect the brake plates, knobs, mounting hardware and wheel contact points regularly. Do not use the rollator if a brake is loose, damaged or rubbing abnormally.

Important: The Stella slow-down brake pair is an optional accessory. Amylior service parts are 1003434 (LH) and 1003435 (RH); the pair is commonly ordered as CGR-FR. These add wheel drag but do not replace the standard braking system.
