The Silicone Coated Coudé Foley Catheter (16 Fr, 10 cc, 2-Way) uses an angled tip for easier insertion through obstruction. Silicone coating reduces friction and encrustation, and a 10 cc balloon ensures secure reliable indwelling drainage.

The 16 French size is one of the most commonly used catheter sizes in adult indwelling catheterisation, balancing drainage efficiency with patient comfort. In patients where urethral obstruction — typically from an enlarged prostate, urethral stricture, or other anatomical resistance — makes standard straight-tip insertion difficult or impossible, the coudé tip provides the clinical solution. Its upward angle follows the natural curvature of the male prostatic urethra, guiding the catheter through the zone of resistance and into the bladder without the trauma associated with forceful straight-tip insertion. The silicone coating over the latex body serves two functions: it reduces surface friction during insertion for a smoother, less traumatic passage, and it resists the mineral deposits that accumulate on the catheter surface during prolonged indwelling use — helping maintain drainage function over time. The 10 cc balloon provides greater retention stability than the standard 5 cc configuration. Large, smooth drainage eyes support efficient, unimpeded urine flow. Sterile and single-use.
Male patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or urethral obstruction where straight-tip catheter insertion has been unsuccessful
Patients prone to catheter encrustation and blockage who benefit from the silicone-coated surface to extend catheter function
Long-term catheterised patients in hospital, long-term care, or home care where encrustation resistance is a clinical management priority
Post-urological surgery patients requiring indwelling drainage where insertion ease and encrustation resistance are both clinically relevant
Hospital urology, emergency, and general medicine wards managing difficult catheterisations requiring a 16 Fr coudé approach
Community and home care nurses managing catheter care for patients with documented urethral obstruction or frequent encrustation events
Single-Use Only: This catheter is sterile and intended for single use only. Do not reuse, reprocess, or re-sterilise.
Inspection: Check packaging integrity before use. Do not use if packaging is damaged, open, or past the expiry date.
Insertion: Use strict aseptic technique throughout. Apply sterile lubricating gel generously to the coudé tip and catheter shaft. For male patients, orient the coudé tip upward during insertion to navigate prostatic resistance. Advance gently until urine flows freely.
Balloon Inflation: Confirm urine flow before inflating the balloon. Inflate slowly with the recommended volume of sterile water (10 cc). Do not use air or saline. Gently retract until resistance confirms balloon positioning at the bladder neck.
Drainage: Connect to a sterile urinary drainage bag. Secure the catheter to the inner thigh to minimise urethral traction.
Removal: Fully deflate the balloon before removing the catheter. Never remove a Foley catheter with the balloon inflated.
Note: Coudé catheter insertion must be performed by or under direct supervision of a trained clinician. Do not force through resistance — seek urological assessment if needed.

Very welcoming and informative. We went in to rent a Walker for my mom to see if she would use it. They had no rentals left so he gave us a brand new one on rental. Highly recommend this company for all your ADL needs.
