Gentle soft-convex barrier for flat/uneven abdomens with drainable pouch and filter. Cut-to-fit opening (13-25 mm) allows precise sizing. Secure tail closure for hygienic emptying.

    • Why Soft Convex Barriers for Flush or Retracted Stomas

Stomas that sit at or below skin level create significant challenges for standard flat barriers—output can seep under the adhesive edge, causing leaks and skin irritation. Soft convex barriers feature a gentle outward curve that applies mild pressure to the peristomal area, effectively bringing the stoma forward to create proper protrusion for a secure seal. Unlike rigid convexity that can cause discomfort or skin damage, soft convex designs provide just enough gentle pressure to fill skin folds and irregularities without excessive force. The one-piece construction simplifies application by eliminating the need to match separate barriers and pouches—everything arrives as a single, integrated system. For users with flush or retracted stomas who struggle with leak-prone flat barriers, soft convex one-piece systems offer improved security, simplified changes, and enhanced confidence.

      Key Features

      • Soft convex barrier: gentle outward curve for flush or slightly retracted stomas
      • Cut-to-fit opening: accommodates stoma sizes 13-25 mm for precise fit
      • One-piece design: integrated barrier and pouch for simplified application
      • Drainable pouch: tail outlet with secure closure enables easy emptying
      • Integrated deodorizing filter: reduces odor and prevents pouch ballooning
      • Soft, comfortable backing: skin-friendly material for gentle contact
      • Low-noise pouch film: quiet during movement for discreet wear
      • Secure tail closure: locking/fastening mechanism for leak-resistant emptying
      • Latex-free construction: safe for latex-sensitive users
      • Box of 10: economical supply for regular users

      Benefits

      • Convexity minimizes leaks on flat or uneven abdomens
      • Custom sizing protects peristomal skin and prevents output contact
      • Simplifies application with one-piece design—no parts to match
      • Filter maintains pouch flatness and controls odor for discretion
      • Quiet fabric won't draw attention under clothing
      • Enables repeated emptying without full pouch replacement
      • Gentle convexity provides support without excessive pressure

      Clinical Applications

✓ Flush stomas: ideal for stomas even with abdominal surface
✓ Slightly retracted stomas: gentle pressure brings stoma forward
✓ Flat or uneven abdomens: compensates for challenging peristomal contours
✓ Colostomy care: secure drainage for formed to semi-formed output
✓ Ileostomy care: reliable adhesion for liquid to paste consistency output
✓ Leak-prone flat barrier users: solution for those struggling with standard barriers
✓ Small to medium stomas: 13-25 mm size range accommodates common dimensions
✓ Simplified care needs: one-piece convenience for users or caregivers

      Usage & Application

For individuals with colostomies or ileostomies featuring flush or slightly retracted stomas in the 13-25 mm size range who require soft convex support.

Determining if you need soft convexity: Consult with your ostomy nurse or healthcare provider. Soft convexity is typically recommended when:

      • Your stoma sits at or below skin level (flush or slightly retracted)
      • You experience frequent leaks with flat barriers
      • You have skin folds, creases, or uneven contours around the stoma
      • Standard flat barriers don't maintain adequate seal

      To prepare and apply:

      1. Cleanse the peristomal skin with warm water and pat completely dry
      2. Measure your stoma size using a measuring guide or template
      3. Verify your stoma measurement falls within the 13-25 mm range
      4. Trace the measured size onto the barrier's cut-to-fit opening area
      5. Carefully cut the opening to match your stoma size—cut slightly larger (1-2 mm) than the stoma to prevent contact with the barrier edge
      6. Remove the backing paper from the barrier
      7. Warm the entire one-piece system between your hands for 30-60 seconds to improve adhesion
      8. Center the cut opening over your stoma
      9. Apply gentle, firm pressure to the convex area, pressing the barrier against your abdomen—the soft convexity should make good contact with the peristomal skin
      10. Press outward from the stoma to eliminate air pockets and ensure complete adhesion
      11. Hold pressure for 30-60 seconds

      To empty the pouch:

      1. Sit on toilet or position over toilet bowl
      2. Open the tail closure by releasing the locking/fastening mechanism
      3. Drain contents into toilet
      4. Wipe the inside of the tail clean with toilet paper
      5. Close and secure the tail closure firmly

Filter maintenance: The integrated filter works automatically. If the filter becomes wet or clogged (reducing venting efficiency), replace the entire one-piece system with a fresh one.

Wear time: Change the one-piece system when you notice barrier erosion, leakage, itching, burning sensations, or per your routine schedule. Typical wear time varies by individual output and activity level.

Removal: Gently peel the one-piece system from top to bottom while supporting your skin. Use adhesive remover if needed to prevent skin trauma.

Important sizing note: If your stoma measures less than 13 mm or greater than 25 mm, you will need a different cut-to-fit range. Consult with your ostomy care provider for appropriate product selection.

Convexity note: Soft convex barriers apply gentle pressure to the peristomal area. If you experience excessive discomfort, skin blanching (whitening), or marks that don't fade within 30 minutes after removal, consult your ostomy nurse—you may need a different convexity level or return to a flat barrier.
