The ProCare STAXX Plastic Finger Splint (Single) holds the distal joint in full extension for mallet finger and tendon injury recovery. Lightweight open-tip plastic allows ventilation and skin monitoring for comfortable extended daily wear.

    • Why Choose the ProCare STAXX Plastic Finger Splint?

Effective treatment of mallet finger and distal phalangeal tendon injuries depends on consistent, uninterrupted immobilisation of the fingertip in full extension. The ProCare STAXX Splint is specifically designed for this purpose, applying the right amount of rigid support to hold the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint in the neutral extension position required for tendon healing — without restricting the rest of the hand. The pull-on STAXX design is easy to apply and remove for hygiene care, and the open fingertip allows continuous airflow to the skin beneath the splint, reducing moisture and irritation during extended wear. Low-profile and lightweight, it can be worn during most daily activities without significantly impacting hand function. Available in multiple sizes for a precise, clinically appropriate fit.

      Key Features

      • Rigid plastic construction maintains the distal joint in consistent full extension
      • STAXX-style pull-on design for easy application and removal
      • Open fingertip design for ventilation, hygiene, and skin condition monitoring
      • Lightweight, low-profile construction minimises bulk during daily use
      • Universal fit for either left or right hand
      • Available in multiple sizes for accurate sizing by finger dimension
      • Suitable for continuous wear as directed by a clinician during recovery

      Benefits

      • Provides consistent immobilisation of the DIP joint for tendon and fracture healing
      • Open tip allows airflow and skin inspection without removing the splint
      • Lightweight construction allows use of the rest of the hand during daily activities
      • Pull-on style simplifies application for patients managing their own splinting
      • Minimal bulk supports adherence to splinting protocols throughout the day
      • Available in multiple sizes ensures a properly fitting, clinically appropriate result

      Clinical & Typical Applications

Mallet finger (extensor tendon disruption at the DIP joint) requiring continuous extension immobilisation during recovery

Distal phalangeal fractures requiring controlled immobilisation of the fingertip joint

Post-cast or post-surgical finger rehabilitation where DIP joint extension support is prescribed

Work-related or sporting finger injuries where partial hand function must be maintained during recovery

Patients managing their own splinting at home following clinical assessment and instruction

Clinics and physiotherapy practices requiring a stock of precision finger splints in multiple sizes

      Usage & Care

Sizing: Select the appropriate size based on finger measurement as directed by the manufacturer's sizing guide. A correct fit is essential — the splint should hold the DIP joint in full extension without excessive pressure on surrounding tissue.

Application: Slide the splint onto the finger with the open tip facing forward. The DIP joint should rest in full extension inside the splint. Do not apply if there is swelling, skin breakdown, or circulatory compromise.

Wear Time: Wear continuously as directed by a clinician — for mallet finger, full-time wear for 6–8 weeks is typically required. The splint should not be removed except for brief skin care.

Skin Care: Briefly remove for cleaning if instructed. Clean the finger gently with mild soap and water, pat dry, and reapply immediately. Do not leave the DIP joint flexed during this time.

Cleaning the Splint: Wipe with a damp cloth and mild cleanser. Allow to dry before reapplying.

Note: This splint is for use under clinical supervision. Consult a physician, physiotherapist, or occupational therapist for assessment, sizing, and protocol guidance.
