      Important Capacity Information

The bed’s 450 lb rating is a total distributed load limit. It includes the user, mattress, bedding, positioning products, accessories, and any other items placed on the sleep surface.

The included Aruba-200 mattress is rated for a maximum user weight of 350 lb. This package must not be advertised as a 450 lb patient-capacity bed.

Why Choose the ProBasics Full-Electric Bed Package?

A standard household bed does not provide powered deck-height adjustment or independent upper-body and knee positioning. The ProBasics full-electric bed allows the user or caregiver to adjust these positions using a simple large-button pendant.

The welded steel split-frame design supports residential delivery and servicing, while the full-length rails and Aruba-200 mattress create a complete package for users who have been professionally assessed for continuous rail coverage and contour-foam support.

      Full-Rail and Entrapment Safety

Full-length bed rails can create entrapment, climbing, over-the-rail fall, and injury hazards. Reduced-gap construction does not eliminate these risks.

A qualified healthcare professional or trained equipment provider should assess the user’s cognition, mobility, body size, behaviour, transfer method, mattress compression, rail spacing, and entrapment risk before the rails are installed or used.

Full rails may make independent entry and exit difficult. They are not restraints and must not be used to confine a user.

Reassess all openings whenever the mattress, rails, overlays, positioning products, bed configuration, or user condition changes. Remove the rails from service if they are loose, damaged, incorrectly positioned, or create an unsafe opening.

      Usage and Safety

The bed should be assembled, installed, inspected, and demonstrated by trained personnel. Read the complete manufacturer instructions before operating, repositioning, cleaning, or servicing the equipment.

Lock both locking casters before transfers, personal care, or leaving the bed stationary. Adjust the bed to the safest practical height when the user is unattended, according to the care plan.

Keep hands, feet, bedding, clothing, tubing, electrical cords, children, pets, and loose objects away from moving deck sections, motors, hinges, rails, and pinch points.

Do not exceed the bed, mattress, rail, or accessory capacity. Disconnect electrical power before cleaning beneath the bed or performing maintenance.

      Setup, Positioning, and Power-Outage Operation

      Installation and Setup

      • Confirm sufficient room clearance around all sides of the bed
      • Connect the head and foot spring sections according to the instructions
      • Install and secure the bed ends, motor box, high-low motor, and pendant
      • Confirm all shafts, pins, clips, and electrical connections are engaged
      • Install the casters and test both caster locks
      • Place and secure the mattress on the deck
      • Install rails only after completing a rail-suitability and entrapment assessment
      • Test every powered, manual, rail, and caster function before use

      Trendelenburg Setup

      • Trendelenburg capability is created through bed-end setup
      • It is not a separately powered pendant function on this model
      • Configuration should be completed by trained personnel
      • Use only when clinically appropriate and authorized

      Power Failure

      • A 9V battery may provide limited emergency positioning
      • The 9V battery is not included
      • Battery backup is not intended for routine bed operation
      • Use the manual crank for emergency bed-height adjustment
      • Review the emergency procedure before the bed is placed into service
      Inspection, Cleaning, and Maintenance

      Routine Inspection

      • Test the pendant and every powered function
      • Inspect the frame, spring deck, bed ends, welds, pins, and fasteners
      • Check motors, cables, cords, plugs, and strain-relief points
      • Test both locking casters and inspect all caster wheels
      • Inspect rails, cross braces, release mechanisms, and all openings
      • Inspect the mattress cover for tears, damaged seams, or fluid penetration
      • Confirm the mattress remains centred and secured
      • Remove the equipment from service if any component is damaged or operates abnormally

      • Follow the cleaner manufacturer’s dilution and contact-time directions
      • Do not saturate motors, controls, cables, plugs, or electrical connections
      • Do not use a hose, pressure washer, or abrasive cleaner
      • Clean the mattress cover according to its instructions
      • Allow all surfaces to dry before reconnecting power or making the bed

      Frequently Asked Questions

      What is included in PBFEB-FRARBPKG?

The package includes the standard-height PBFEB full-electric bed, one pair of PB6034 reduced-gap full-length rails, and one ARUBA-200 36 × 80-inch contour foam mattress.

      Is this the low-bed version?

No. This package uses the standard PBFEB bed. The manufacturer lists a 12.75-inch minimum deck height without casters and a 21.5-inch maximum deck height with casters.

Is the patient-weight capacity 450 lb?

No. The 450 lb figure is the bed’s total distributed load limit. The included Aruba-200 mattress is rated for users up to 350 lb, so the package should be treated as a maximum 350 lb user-capacity system.

Are full-length rails suitable for every user?

No. Full rails can create entrapment, climbing, transfer, and over-the-rail fall hazards. A patient-specific assessment must confirm that they are appropriate with the installed mattress and the user’s care plan.

Will the bed work during a power outage?

The bed includes a 9V emergency-backup provision and a manual height-adjustment crank. The 9V battery is not included and emergency backup is not intended for normal operation.
