Medi Manumed RFX (Silver, Size 1, Right) immobilises the wrist and forearm with dual aluminium palmar and dorsal splints. Breathable Airtex material, adjustable straps, and a wide opening support comfortable hygienic extended immobilisation.

    • Why Choose the Medi Manumed RFX – Right, Size 1?

For serious wrist conditions — fractures, severe ligament injuries, acute tenosynovitis, post-surgical recovery — a standard wrist brace that limits movement is not the same as an orthosis that immobilises it. The Manumed RFX is built for the latter. The dual aluminium splints, positioned on both the palmar and dorsal surfaces and extending up the forearm, create a rigid structural frame that holds the wrist and distal forearm firmly in position across all movement planes. This level of immobilisation is clinically appropriate as a cast alternative, as a post-cast continuation, or for any condition where strict wrist rest is the therapeutic requirement. The right hand specific design provides the correct anatomical fit for the right wrist and forearm, and the Size 1 configuration addresses the small wrist circumference range. Where a plaster cast achieves immobilisation at the cost of skin hygiene, comfort, and adjustability, the Manumed RFX achieves comparable immobilisation while allowing skin access for hygiene and inspection, accommodating swelling changes through adjustable straps, and providing a breathable Airtex fabric that is significantly more comfortable during extended wear. Full finger movement is maintained while the wrist and forearm are stabilised.

      Key Features

      • Dual aluminium splints on palmar and dorsal surfaces provide rigid wrist immobilisation
      • Extended forearm coverage reduces rotational wrist movement that wrist-only splints permit
      • Right hand specific design for correct anatomical fit
      • Size 1 — small wrist circumference range
      • Wide opening design for easier application with limited or painful hand function
      • Adjustable straps accommodate swelling changes during the healing process
      • Breathable Airtex fabric for comfort and skin hygiene during extended wear
      • Full finger movement maintained while the wrist is immobilised
      • Silver colour

      Benefits

      • Dual aluminium splints provide the immobilisation level required for fractures and severe wrist injuries
      • Extended forearm design controls rotation beyond what a wrist-only brace achieves
      • Breathable Airtex is more comfortable and hygienic than a plaster cast during extended immobilisation
      • Wide opening enables easier self-application when hand function is limited by pain or weakness
      • Adjustable straps allow the orthosis to be correctly refitted as post-injury swelling resolves
      • Removable design allows skin inspection and hygiene during extended immobilisation periods

      Clinical & Typical Applications

Distal radius fracture patients managed conservatively or post-operatively on the right hand requiring strict wrist and forearm immobilisation as a cast alternative or post-cast continuation

Severe right wrist sprain patients with significant ligamentous injury requiring extended immobilisation beyond the capacity of a standard wrist brace

Acute right-wrist tenosynovitis or de Quervain's tenosynovitis patients requiring strict wrist rest and immobilisation to reduce tendon sheath inflammation

Post-surgical right wrist patients transitioning from a cast to a removable orthosis for the continuation of fracture or soft tissue repair rehabilitation

Patients with right wrist carpal instability or ligament injury requiring extended wrist and forearm control as part of a conservative or post-operative management programme

Occupational therapists and hand therapists prescribing or fabricating a wrist and forearm orthosis for right-hand patients requiring strict immobilisation

      Usage & Care

Sizing: Size 1 fits small right wrist circumferences. Confirm measurements against Medi's Manumed RFX sizing guide before ordering. Right hand specific — confirm the correct side before ordering.

Application: Open the wide opening and place the right hand into the orthosis with the palmar splint beneath the wrist and the dorsal splint on top. Fasten the adjustable straps firmly from the wrist upward.

Splint Position: The aluminium splints can be gently adjusted to the correct anatomical wrist position. Seek guidance from your healthcare provider before adjusting.

Wearing: Wear as directed. For fracture management, the orthosis remains in place continuously as directed. For other conditions, follow the prescribed wearing and removal schedule.

Hygiene: Remove for bathing as allowed by your healthcare provider. Inspect the skin under the splint daily for pressure marks or skin breakdown.

Washing: Hand wash the fabric component with mild detergent and air dry. Do not machine wash with splints in place. Wipe splints clean with a damp cloth.
