Mouldable hydrocolloid seals with aloe fill skin creases and gaps for better barrier fit. 15-40 mm sizing range with 3 mm thickness. Hand-mouldable for custom shaping.

    • Why Mouldable Hydrocolloid Seals for Peristomal Skin Protection

Even properly fitted barriers can leave small gaps between the adhesive and irregular peristomal skin—creases, folds, scars, or uneven contours create spaces where output can seep underneath, causing leaks and skin breakdown. Traditional rigid barriers cannot conform to these irregular surfaces. Mouldable hydrocolloid seals solve this challenge by filling gaps and creating a smooth, level surface for barrier adhesion. The 3 mm thickness provides substantial gap-filling capability while remaining flexible enough to move with the body. Hydrocolloid material absorbs minimal moisture while maintaining its seal, and the added aloe provides soothing contact for already-compromised or sensitive skin. By hand-moulding the seal to match your exact stoma size and shape, you create a customized protective layer that prevents output from reaching vulnerable skin—extending wear time and promoting healthier peristomal tissue.

      Key Features

      • Mouldable hydrocolloid with aloe: gentle, skin-friendly formulation with soothing properties

      • Box of 30: economical supply for daily seal users

      Benefits

      • Extends barrier wear time by improving seal integrity
      • Protects peristomal skin by minimizing effluent contact
      • Prevents leakage on irregular skin surfaces and challenging anatomies
      • Speeds application with quick, tool-free moulding
      • Enhances confidence with reliable leak protection
      • Comfortable material won't restrict movement or cause discomfort
      • Cost-effective solution for preventing premature barrier failures

      Clinical Applications

✓ Irregular peristomal skin: fills creases, folds, and uneven contours
✓ Post-surgical scarring: seals gaps created by surgical scars
✓ Leak-prone users: additional protection for those experiencing frequent leaks
✓ Extended wear goals: improves seal longevity for longer barrier wear times
✓ Retracted or flush stomas: provides additional support around challenging stomas
✓ High-output situations: extra protection for users with liquid or frequent output
✓ Skin folds or creases: compensates for body contours that create gaps
✓ New ostomy users: helps achieve reliable seal during learning period

      Usage & Application

For individuals with colostomies, ileostomies, or urostomies who need additional seal protection around irregular peristomal skin or experience leakage with barriers alone.

      Application method options:

Method 1: Apply seal directly to skin (most common)

      1. Cleanse the peristomal skin with warm water and pat completely dry—skin must be fully dry for seal to adhere
      2. Ensure your hands are clean and dry
      3. Remove the seal from packaging and remove backing papers from both sides
      4. With dry hands, gently stretch and mould the seal to create an opening that matches your stoma size (within the 15-40 mm range)
      5. The seal should fit closely around the stoma without touching it—leave approximately 1-2 mm clearance
      6. Center the moulded seal around your stoma and press gently onto the skin
      7. Smooth the seal outward to eliminate air pockets and ensure complete contact
      8. Apply your barrier and pouch system over the seal as usual

Method 2: Apply seal to back of barrier

      1. Remove backing from one side of the seal
      2. Mould the seal opening to match your stoma size
      3. Press the seal onto the back of your barrier, centering it around the barrier opening
      4. Remove the remaining backing paper from the seal
      5. Apply the barrier (with attached seal) to your peristomal skin as usual

      Advanced techniques:

      • Layering: For deeper gaps or severe irregularities, stack two seals for increased thickness (6 mm total)
      • Partial seals: Cut or tear seals to create half-rings or strips for targeted gap-filling
      • Custom shaping: Mould seals into oval or irregular shapes to match unique stoma profiles

Wear time: Mouldable seals typically remain effective for the entire barrier wear time (3-7 days depending on barrier type). Change seals when changing your complete pouching system.

Removal: Gently peel the seal away when removing your barrier. Any remaining residue can be removed with warm water or adhesive remover. The hydrocolloid material is designed for clean removal without leaving significant residue.

      Important application tips:

      • Always apply seals to completely dry skin for best adhesion
      • Avoid stretching the seal too thin—maintain adequate thickness for effective gap-filling
      • Warm the seal between your hands briefly before moulding to make it more pliable
      • Press firmly but gently when applying—excessive pressure can distort the seal
